Margot Bannerman - Bee Stop: a raised greenspace
15 July 2010 - 15 June 2012
621 - 625 Holloway Road, Islington N7
Bee Stop is a green roof created for Holloway Road in Archway by artist Margot Bannerman who is interested in creating new growing spaces in urban sites. For Bee Stop Margot has worked along side Aldingbourne Nurseries to create a ‘mini meadow’ of resilient nectar rich wild-flowers and plants above this bustling shopping parade and traffic-heavy road which we hope will prove attractive to bees and passers by.
Margot Bannerman is a practising artist and senior lecturer at the Byam Shaw School of Art in Archway (Central Saint Martins at University of the Arts London). Her current projects include research into vertical growing systems in urban environments.
This art work is one of a series of Secret Garden Projects commissioned by Islington Council.
