Kate Phillimore
Commissions Curator (maternity leave)

Currently on maternity leave, Kate is Commissions Curator at UP Projects. Up to her leave, she led on project development of the Newham Trackside Wall Commission for Crossrail. Prior to UP Projects, Kate held the position of Assistant Curator at the Whitstable Biennale where she commissioned and curated film and performance works in various, often unexpected, venues throughout the town.

Kate has extensive experience commissioning and managing artists working in the public realm, having previously worked on projects such as the Fourth Plinth, the ArcelorMittel Orbit designed by Anish Kapoor in the Olympic Park, and Cabbies’ Shelters - a series of public art commissions in cab shelters with the London Transport Museum. Outside of her work at UP Projects, Kate is one of the founders and directors of Three Letter Words, a charitable organisation that supports artists’ independent publishing.

Kate received an MA in Curatorial Practice from the California College of Arts in San Francisco.
