Julia Johnston is Development Director at UP Projects where she supports the Founding Director in strategic development of the organisation and leads on policy, advocacy and fundraising.
She is a senior executive with extensive experience across business development, operations, exhibition management and finance in the arts, heritage and charity sectors. Prior to UP Projects, Julia was Director of Operations for Julie’s Bicycle, a global charity for environmental sustainability, supporting the creative industries. She has also worked for a range of arts organisations including Sherman Galleries Sydney (now the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation), Australia Council for the Arts, Sydney Festival and City of Melbourne’s Art and Heritage Collection and Gallery.
Australian born, she trained as an artist and curator, and graduated with a Fine Arts degree from the College of Fine Arts Sydney and an MA in Curatorship from the University of Melbourne. She recently completed an MA in Social Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths University of London.
